France May Allocate 50% Of Grid Unit To Fund Dismantling

French state-controlled power group Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR) Wednesday said it is considering allocating 50% of its fully owned grid unit Reseau de Transport d’Electricite, or RTE, to the portfolio of dedicated assets set to finance the decommissioning of existing nuclear power plants.

In a statement, EDF said it is required by law to build up a portfolio of dedicated assets to enable it to meet the future costs of dismantling existing nuclear plants and radioactive waste storage.
