ZIMBABWE: Desperate measures in times of hunger | IRIN Africa

“Between 220,000 and 250,000 rural households in Zimbabwe live in extreme poverty and are food insecure. These households include between 620,000 and 700,000 vulnerable children,” according to a joint report by UNICEF and the government called “A Situational Analysis on the State of Women’s and Children’s Rights in Zimbabwe: 2005-2010.”

Nationwide about 3.5 million children were living below the poverty line.
