Women: redefining peace, democracy and security | openDemocracy

From May 23-25, women activists and scholars from around the world will gather in Quebec at the invitation of the Nobel Women’s Initiative to discuss ‘Women Forging a New Security: Ending Sexual Violence in Conflict’. Jenny Morgan and Jessica Horn will be reporting for openDemocracy 50.50

It’s five years since the Nobel Women’s Initiative was established by sister Nobel Peace laureates Jody Williams, Shirin Ebadi, Wangari Maathai, Rigoberta Menchú Tum, Betty Williams and Mairead Corrigan Maguire.

The Initiative sponsors biennial events bringing together women activists and scholars from around the world, in an effort to support women’s rights and build a culture of peace with justice and equality.
