The seventh annual NATO Conference on Weapons of Mass Destruction Arms Control, Disarmament and Non-proliferation is hosted this year by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the city of Bergen on 16 and 17 June. The event will gather senior officials from countries on four continents as well as from international organisations and academic institutions.
Presentations and panel discussions will allow open and in-depth informal debate on four general themes:
The future of multilateral non-proliferation regimes and initiatives,
Current regional proliferation threats and challenges,
Terrorism and WMD proliferation,
NATO’s contribution to international efforts in the area of WMD arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.
The conference will be opened by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Espen Barth Eide, and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, Amb. Gábor Iklódy.
