I attended Rita Hauser’s talk about the stalemated Palestinian-Israeli conflict. I commend Ms. Hauser’s honest recognition that the “two-state solution” to the conflict is dead. Indeed, as former deputy mayor of Jerusalem, Meron Benvenisti observed in 2009 because of unceasing Jewish settlement, the West Bank—the future Palestinian state—is “an egg that cannot be unscrambled,” Israel-Palestine has already become one geopolitical unit. In truth, the “two-state solution” has always been a chimera, cover for ongoing Palestinian dispossession. It just needs a proper burial. Ms. Hauser’s words helped.
