Pope Francis names two 19-century Palestinian nuns as saints – video | The Guardian

Pope Francis names two Palestinian women as saints on Sunday, in a ceremony in Saint Peter’s Square just days after the Vatican formalized its de facto recognition of the state of Palestine.
The canonizations, attended by the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, were significant because they can be interpreted as a symbol of support and encouragement for Christians who are facing persecution across the Middle East
