Shifting Ownership for the Energy Transition in the Green New Deal: A Transatlantic Proposal

Given the largest fossil fuel companies operate internationally, securing a rapid and just transition to a green economy necessitates an international response. Looking to examples of successful action in the United States, this report considers the possibility of scaling up and replicating solutions across the Atlantic. The following report considers:

  • Realigning IMF and World Bank goals to address climate crisis
  • A UN intergovernmental body to address tax havens
  • Debt relief and forgiveness schemes for countries in the Global South

This release is included in a series on Green Internationalism, as part of Common Wealth’s Green New Deal project.
