Israeli warplane targets Gaza Strip | Various Sources

Israel has carried out air strikes on various infrastructure in the Gaza Strip in retaliation to overnight rocket attacks from the Palestinian enclave, its army has said.

The rockets landed in open areas, causing no damage or injury, according to a police spokesman, and there were no reports of injuries in Gaza. The military said two of the rockets were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.

At least six rockets had been fired from northern Gaza. Two were intercepted, the military said.

Hours later, Israeli aircraft hit at least three sites used by militants in the Gaza Strip, Israel said. No injuries were reported by either side.

The rocket fire followed a rise in tensions in Gaza after a militant died in a shoot-out with Palestinian police.

No militant group claimed responsibility for the rocket launch, but Israel said it holds Hamas, which rules the coastal territory, accountable.
