Rabbi Ascherman has been detained many times by Israeli authorities for trying to stop assaults on Palestinian property especially during the olive harvest. Rabbi Ascherman was Co-winner of the 2011 Gandhi Peace Award given by Promoting Enduring Peace in New Haven.
